Rendered and filtered cappings beeswax in a number of sizes. From cute little mini blocks for when you only need a small amount, through to 1.5kg blocks for large projects:
Cappings wax is the layer of wax the bees build to cover the honey in the comb as it matures. This needs to be removed using a scraper before the honey within the comb can be spun from the frame.
Our honey and wax is separated and extracted in an MPI accredited facility that operates under a Risk Management Programme (RMP). The facility is export certified and holds EU status.
The wax is then rendered down (using a very gentle heat to liquify it), filtered and poured into moulds. We do not bleach or add anything to it like synthetic or soy based waxes. It's just pure New Zealand beeswax suitable for a variety of applications such as food wraps, balms, lotions, cosmetics and wood treatments.
Colours do vary from batch to batch, depending on the pollen collected by the bees. The predominant floral types are Manuka/Kanuka, Towai/Kamahi, Rata and Clover.
We do not sell wax that has originated from the brood frames (where the queen lays her eggs). This means that every honey season there is only a limited supply available. We suggest purchasing enough to last you through until the following Summer when honey harvesting resumes.
